Tilia Properties is
pleased to be working on a major refurbishment of the main boatshed at the
International Boatbuilding Training College in Lowestoft. The college, which
runs comprehensive boatbuilding and joinery courses attracting students from
all over the world, was in need of a more heat retentive building to boost its
energy efficiency.
The Tilia
team started by removing all of the old cladding and various fixings and
ensuring that the remaining was structure safe and secure, before the
installation of new materials could commence.
We’ve now
started to erect the new cladding, which is designed to significantly improve
the thermal rating of the building by minimising heat loss. The addition of
new, more energy efficient, windows and doors will further improve heat
efficiency.
Our final
task in this project will be to install new roller shutter doors at the front
of the boatshed, resulting in a more practical, aesthetically pleasing
building.
At Tilia we
pride ourselves on maintaining and renovating all of our industrial units to
meet current building standards to a high level. We’re sure the IBTC will enjoy
the benefits of their new, improved boatshed.
